We were visited by the Church Historian and members of the Church History Department-- below photos with some of the longtime members who joined us for the evening and shared stories with the visitors about the early events of the church here in Cambodia.
We were happy to welcome Elder & Sister Meinzer to our mission, who will be our humanitarian welfare services couple in Cambodia.
A drenching rainstorm provided an interesting ending to our evening dinner Brother Steven Snow, the Church Historian-- one for the record books I guess! We tried to keep him a bit dry on the run to the van, but it was no use.
We were delighted to welcome on October 9 our largest group of missionaries yet from the Provo MTC -- 22 of them, plus Sister Eglund who returned to us safe and well-- yea! She was a capable travel director for the group, who ended up having one of their flights cancelled due to bad weather and had an interesting time trying to get here.
The missionaries from the Provo MTC were joined by 5 new local missionaries, returned from the Manila MTC, making in total 27-- our largest new group ever.
Trying to think straight to put a puzzle together after 30 hours of traveling is not easy!
We offered to let them watch a video after dinner-- but it was bedtime for all.
The next day, transfers, we held our train the trainers and trainee meeting in the Branch 10 building, simply no room for all to fit in the mission home office-- we announced companionships and had lunch together before they headed out to their new areas.
Our wonderful assistants Elder Yorgason, Elder Sam, and Elder Satterthwaite did a great job putting everything together for such a large group-- not easy!
The day ended with a wonderful group of finishing missionaries-- here Sister Stephens, Sister Homer, Sister Orton, and Sister Hartley enjoy a soda pop tradition they have apparently kept up their whole mission.
A total of 6 finishing missionaries-- Elder Khlot, Elder An, Sister Stephens, Sister Homer, Sister Hartley, and Sister Orton. A truly outstanding group of missionaries every one. We miss them!
